Norfolk Sports Academy
Providing complete expert support for the county’s most promising athletes
The Norfolk Sports Academy (NSA) seeks to provide expert support and education for the county’s most promising athletes 18 years plus as part of a scheme extension to the Young Norfolk Sports Academy.
As well as being part of a physical tracking programme, members of the NSA will be provided with guidance on how to better manage their nutrition, psychology, injury rehabilitation and handling of the media. These sessions will be delivered by experts in their field and by current international athletes. In addition, we will be supporting athletes’ physiological development by utilising testing regimes throughout the year working alongside the different NGB’s talent programmes.
As with the YNSA, we anticipate the programme will open up opportunities for athletes to be key members of representative sporting structures in their chosen disciplines. It is our intention that the Norfolk Sports Academy support programme will continue to develop athletes and specifically improve their readiness should they then progress to one of their chosen sport’s World Class Programmes. The NSA will work with guidance from UK Sport and NGBs to ensure its support is always current, specific and appropriate.
The NSA is being supported by Sportspark and a number of key corporate partners. To be able to bring into play the excellent sporting and ancillary training facilities that the Sportspark has to offer, working in collaboration with the YNSA, key stakeholders, and with great support from our corporate partners, I am excited that we are initiating a new venture in athlete support programmes for our elite and prospective elite athletes in Norfolk.
